Shakespeare Foods

Shakespeare Foods* produces a range of breakfast cereals and other healthy and not-so-healthy foods, some of which are related to the bard, and some aren’t.

Muesidge/Muegli
In the interim period between summer and winter, commonly referred to as autumn, and then in between winter and summer, colloquially known as spring, the biggest question on the middle class breakfast table is what should we be eating – porridge or muesli? The solution is simple – a combination of the two: a lovely bowl of Muesidge or Muegli, ideal too for climate change when you’ve no idea if it’s going to be hot or cold from day to day (to be used as a supplement to your daily Barnflakes, not a replacement).

Full of healthy fruits and fibre including raisins, coconut, nuts and seeds to name just a few, muesidge/muegli is the best of both worlds – have it with cold milk on warm days then have it heated up with milk on colder days***. After all, muesli and porridge are essentially the same thing.

The Shakespeare link comes in the shape of the cereal box which can be opened up and made into a theatre set. Various wooden Shakespeare character figures are to be found in the cereal boxes. Vials of various seeds, honey and other yummy condiments of the season (obviously not hebenon) will also be found in the boxes, to be poured on as required. The box will also contain plot summaries of Shakespeare plays, and notable quotes.

Rocky’s Rockland Road Rocky Road
Not related to Shakespeare but my Rocky Road went down such a treat last Christmas – Rocky was a cat I had as a child and I used to live on Rockland Road.

Gravy tube
Also unrelated to Shakespeare. A play on the phrase ‘gravy train’ (making a lot of money for little effort), and the London Underground (‘the tube’), it does actually come in a tube-like container, otherwise known as a can.

Chocolate bar(d)s
Chocolate bars in the shape of the bard has to be done.

*Inspired by a walk and talk over Richmond Park with Helen and Angie a few years ago.

**Name of cereal currently undecided.

***Obviously, cold porridge is no comfort (See Act II, Scene I, The Tempest).
