This is tricky – I’m basing these lists on the assumptions that, 1) gay filmmakers don’t necessarily have to make gay films all the time, 2) but gay films probably have to be (at least partly) about gay people, 3) I’m sure lesbians make great films too – but I haven’t seen them (except Desert Hearts and High Art), and, 4) Brokeback Mountain was rubbish.
