Model boat in house window

I love seeing a model boat with its sails in a house window. They’re usually to be found in coastal towns but can turn up in pretentious places like Richmond too. I always thought it was a posh thing to do – obviously I like the idea of having one in my house but I also thought they were some kind of code, for burglars, perhaps, to tell them who has money.
