Satish Kumar talk on Soil • Soul • Society at Oxfam Books, Truro

I’ve mentioned fortuitous meetings whilst travelling on public transport previously and so it was when Helen and I randomly met peace-pilgrim, life-long activist and former monk Satish Kumar on a train from London to Cornwall some months ago. I invited Satish to talk at the Oxfam Bookshop in Truro, and he agreed.

Satish Kumar has been inspiring global change for over 50 years. He undertook a pilgrimage for peace, walking for two years without money from India to America for the cause of nuclear disarmament. Now in his 80s, Satish has devoted his life to campaigning for ecological regeneration and social justice. He is a world-renown author and international speaker, founder of The Resurgence Trust and Editor Emeritus of Resurgence & Ecologist – a change-making magazine he edited for over 40 years.
In 2014, Satish was appointed an Oxfam UK Ambassador. To find out more about Satish and join him in protecting people and planet, click here.

Satish will be talking about his book Soil • Soul • Society, where he argues that caring for the natural environment (Soil), maintaining personal well-being (Soul) and upholding human values (Society) are the moral imperatives of our time. His talk will be followed by a Q&A.

The event will be facilitated by Helen Tanner who is a peacebuilder, healer and psychotherapist who has spent many years working internationally in conflict areas and is now based in Redruth. For more information on Helen, click here.

This event is being organised by Oxfam Books, Truro. All ticket proceeds will go to Oxfam. The event is located directly opposite Oxfam Bookshop, which will remain open after the talk is over.

Soil, Soul, Society: In conversation with Satish Kumar will take place on Saturday 24th September from 4-5pm at Colours Cafe & Wellbeing Centre, 15 New Bridge Street, Truro TR1 2AA (directly opposite Oxfam Books).

Book a ticket on eventbrite.

6/9/22 update: this event has now sold out.
