New logo for Pool Launderette

I used to go to a launderette (or laundromat as they call it over the pond) in New Orleans that had a bar in it (Julia Roberts goes there in the movie The Pelican Brief). I have a book of London launderettes (mentioned recently). I take photos of lovely launderettes. But Pool Launderette? Located between Redruth and Camborne on the A3047, let’s just say it needs some love. I actually had a ‘business meeting’ outside it the other week, whilst waiting for the dryer to finish. We had a flask of coffee, notebooks and pens and sat outside on the pavement during a brief interlude of sunshine, whilst the lorries and cars roared past us on the busy road. I think of Pool as one big car park; people even park on the pavement there.

Pool launderette could be great. It gets the job done, but it’s as basic as a launderette can be. There’s a small, empty room to the right of the launderette with a sign saying ‘Office to Let’. I’m not sure this is a joke or not, but anyway, obviously it’s crying out to be a part of the launderette – a coffee shop and bookshop or library, perhaps. Using a launderette should be a great experience: warm, social and relaxing, watching the hypnotic spinning of the clothes.

Pool launderette website (sadly no update since 2018).
